GOOD NEWS & BAD NEWS!
First the good news - I'M OFF THE WALKER!!! Now the bad news - I'M OUT OF THE MARATHON!!! Yes, I cried when the doctor told me that it will take at least six months for the bone in my leg to completely heal. So, I'm now officially a part of the Curb Crew. I will be there for each and every one of you every step of the way. . . I just won't be walking beside you. But I will be one of those familiar faces in the crowd cheering you on! I was so proud of all of you for doing your 12 miles last Saturday. I was glad I was nearby when Robin called to tell me there were no cups at Fox Bay, so I was able to get them to you. If I can do anything for any of you, please let me know, and I will be there. Keep up the good work, Marathoners, and you will cross that finish line in Chicago and scream "I COMPLETED THE CHICAGO MARATHON!!!"

I'm so sorry that your leg won't get well in time to run this year but you are very smart to do what they say so that you will be healthy and strong for the years to come. And, there's always another year. And, thanks SO much for being the helper and curb crew and bringing cups!!!!

I know you must be very disappointed and I am disappointed for you. You are very sweet to stay engaged and help out. I am glad you are being sensible and "as the doctor ordered" so you can do it another time.
I assume you can continue cycling and perhaps other cardio cross training that's not as high impact. Keep that up and you'll be so much further along NEXT year when you join the makeover again.

Clark will be glad you have your company in Chicago. If I have trouble healing, I may also be there with you in the curb crew. But....we will be there next year for sure!
This year is a learning experience for all us newbies. I am so grateful we have made it this far not really knowing what was in store for us. We will train, work hard, be strong and be ready for next year!
You are STILL a marathoner!!! Your heart and mind have stepped up to the challenge but your body is not willing - yet, but soon!
Take care.
Jana

Ditto everything everyone else said. I know you are disappointed, but this will give you some inspiration for next year. Now that you've been bitten by the marathon bug, you know what you are in for and you know how to get it, and you will. Many of us will be doing it next year so this is just a temporary delay. I'm glad you will be with us on the sidelines and in our hearts. You are a big part of this group and we can't lose you now. Keep giving that injury the TLC it's asking for and you'll be as good as new and ready to train in no time. And most importantly, keep your great attitude. That makes you a marathoner!
