Bad News!

I guess it could be worse. . . at least I don't need surgery. I have a very bad bruise on one of the bones in my leg near my knee. Although it's not a fracture, it could be if I don't stay off of it for a few days. So, I'm at home staying off of it. I'm not on the cane anymore, I'm on a WALKER! I just can't believe this! Hopefully, I'll be able to go back to work next week, but I will still be using the walker and I'll have to be careful for SIX weeks. Even if I feel like it's fine, I can't do anything before six weeks, or it could make it worse. And to top thing off, Sunday night I lost my balance and fell flat on my tailbone! So, my left knee is very badly bruised, my right leg hurts from having to do all the work and now my butt hurts if I sit down wrong! Okay, this is where everyone should step back from your computer screen and roll on the floor laughing until you're in tears. Yes, sometimes I have to laugh to keep from crying, but I will get through this because I AM A MARATHONER AND I WILL BE IN CHICAGO IN OCTOBER. I may be just walking really fast, but I will be there!

Mark, I need you to work out a schedule for me that will get me caught up with the other MMers when this six-week period is up. My doctor has approved leg lifts with ankle weights, swimming and biking so I'll be doing that during this down time. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and prayers from everyone would be even more helpful! Not just for a speedy recovery, but for patience to get me there.

Thanks everyone - I love you all!

Blog on Marathoners - I'll be spending a lot of time reading all the fun stuff you're doing!

Sheila, this is bad news, but it's also good in a way. You are still in the game!!!!! That's what matters. He could've told you it was over, BUT HE DIDN'T. YEAH!!!You have to take some time off but you can still keep training in the pool and on the bike and that will keep you strong. I also encourage you to come to the weekly runs and ride around with Clark and Robin. (Do you have a bike?) I think the group morale will be your best medicine! We will be sending lots of prayers for you but I am actually happy for you. This is fixable! That's great!!!!

"swimming, biking..." hey, if you start doing that, you will not only be in shape for Chicago, but you will be able to do a Sprint Triathlon with me!! Seriously, what's a 500 yard swim, 15 mile bike, and a 5K run after training for a marathon? Just take it easy and I hope you get to feeling better. See ya in a couple of weeks!!!

Well at least you have proven that you don't half a__ do things!! That definitely makes you a marathoner!
And, BTW, what have you been smoking saying I will "probably place" in my age group in Chicago! Did you fall and hit your head also?
    You are nutty, woman!
Can't wait to see you. Hope you will be with us soon!
